    Fleet Mechanic Lead

     

    The Fleet Mechanic Lead will perform scheduled preventative maintenance and necessary repairs to automobiles, trucks (light and heavy), trailers, vans, forklifts and material handling equipment, as directed by Fleet Management. The Fleet Mechanic Lead also manages the day to day operations of the repair shop as well as other on-site mechanics. This individual may also disassemble and overhaul engines, transmissions, clutches, rear ends and electrical systems. 

     

    Schedule/Shift: The shift for this position may vary, generally start time will be at 8am until finish from Monday through Friday.

     

    Position Responsibilities

    • Maintain and repair fleet equipment and perform preventative maintenance.
    • Diagnose vehicle failures and disassemble, repair and reassemble parts as necessary.
    • Adhere to OSHA, DOT and EPA regulatory compliance standards.
    • Respond to service calls.
    • Complete all necessary documents, including vehicle records.
    • Maintain cleanliness in areas of work and tools.
    • Record all work in an electronic web based database
    • Pick up and deliver vehicles.
    • Manage ordering and inventory of parts.
    • Perform assigned duties in a safe and productive manner.
    • Follow the direction of Fleet Supervisor/Manager.

    Requirements

      • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
      • Possess general computer skills
      • 3 years mechanic experience or equivalent training / education—must be a Class A qualified technician and able to work on all types of vehicles and material handling equipment
      • ASE certifications (Preferred)
      • Valid driver’s license (Class A CDL required - Must get within 180 days of employment)
      • Lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds repeatedly
