    Senior Engineering Manager - Test and Trials

     

    As Senior Engineering Manager of Test and Trial, you will manage the Test and Trial process for Supply Chain Hot and Cold Beverages.  The Test and Trial function is to review and understand requirements and make plans to execute against approved test and trial projects to be conducted at new and existing Hot and Cold manufacturing sites, Cold pilot plant, and at various vendors / suppliers.  Key components will include scope validation, statistical process control and manufacturing metrics development.  You will also develop an in-depth knowledge of our manufacturing processes (batching/blending/roasting, filling/lidding/capping, packaging, palletizing) and trial process to deliver key insights to our customers in order to help the team make informed business decisions, in addition to tracking program performance.  Additionally, you will be able to utilize this information to identify and lead DTV (Design to Value) improvement projects.

     

    What you will do:

    • Partner with Quality to define the overall Change Management process for the manufacturing network.
    • Work with the total SC team, R&D, Quality, Procurement, IT, Finance, manufacturing sites, vendors and other partners to develop on-site strategy for Test and Trial process.
    • Align with partners in the manufacturing network on roles and responsibilities for trial work.
    • Manage Test and Trial project request list.  Plan, coordinate and direct as well as conduct in-plant trials
    • Develop cost model template to be utilized to initiate estimated trial costs as they are scoped at Hot and Cold manufacturing sites.
    • Manage budget for internal trial costs and associated back charge process with requesting KDP functions – R&D, Sales, Procurement,  other
    • Facilitate changes initiated by plant personnel
    • Quantify the value brought to the network by test and trail work done at the manufacturing sites.
    • Create a standardized reporting process, tools and data analysis package for trials
    • Establish scope validation, statistical process control tools and methods for Hot and Cold processing and packaging equipment
    • Participate / lead Capex CAR process as it relates to the Test and Trial function
    • Proactively identify trends that will drive production insights and equipment recommendations
    • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques with a lean approach
    • Support the development and implementation of databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
    • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems – own the repository for the Test and Trial function 
    • Use advanced understanding and application of industry practices, techniques, and standards to achieve objectives                         
    • Demonstrate ability to recognize strategy options and recommend solutions
    • Train and mentor while supervising the work of others(internal and external) who provide technical support on manufacturing site based trials
    • Work flexibly and develop rapport with cross functional teams
    • Report out to cross functional stakeholders on results and data-driven recommendations

    Requirements

    What you must have:

    • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum 7 years of experience in CPG Engineering, Business analytics, continuous improvement or related field.
    • Exceptional communication skills, meet or beat agreed upon timing on complex projects, and organize work independently.
    • Proficient in Excel, VBA for Excel, AutoCAD, MiniTab, Confluence, Planview and other data analytics programs
    • Strong motivation with a passion for data system utilization and continuous process improvement
    • Ability to persuade and negotiate with plant management, R&D and vendors/suppliers to adhere to scheduled trial dates
    • Develop and maintain good working relationships with internal KDP partners as well as OEM equipment and processing vendors
    • Demonstrated ability to be flexible, proactively self-manage time and balance priorities
    • Previous management of small technical teams
    • PMP certification or ability to obtain within 12 months pending workload to ensure continuity within PMO process
    • Ability to travel up to 40%.
